08. Oxia Refuge - Saradena - Abliani

The daily stage that connects the Oxia refuge with Abliani, moves in a mixed field and combines subalpine wide ridges with clusters of beech trees and dense fir forest at lower altitudes.
It enters Evritania from the borders of Fthiotida and vice versa, while in a north-westerly direction it forms part of the western branch of the crossing identified for the composition of the Pindus Trail on the borders of the Municipality of Karpenisi.
The trail moves through pastures with excellent views of the surrounding mountains, (Vardousia, Kravara, Velouchi, Kaliakouda) as it reaches the top of Sarantena, while it continues lower in the woodland surrounding Abliani, following a well-marked path in a fir forest with cleared meadows.
In recent years, local runners have chosen the route on the occasion of the organisation of a local mountain running race, so they have pruned the path and added signage with the race sign from the height of Sarantena to Abliani, Domnista and Skopia.
The trail as we approach Abliani meets a forest dirt road, leading west to the village's square.
