Brief description of route and conditions

From Artotina Square, the broad path initially led to Saint John’s monastery and then traversing part of the Evinos valley, continues uphill to the village of Grammeni Oxia. Where the old watermills stood, wooden bridges have casually been set for crossing over the river.

A short section of the forest route > Saint John’s Monastery- Evinos Bridge, a path of approximately 500 meters has endured irreparable damage due to severe stonefall. For the time being passing is carried out from the road heading towards the concrete bridge of the road network.

Passed the bridge, leading to a rural road we find a cobbled path - formally a public road – in need of efficient pruning and improvement. The old cobbled road, which is perfectly maintained in some parts, follows a northwest course that gradually leads to the village.

The connection of Grammeni Oxia to the shelter up the mountain, occurred from the east side of the current urban road. Beginning low towards the river base, it later ascends ending at the col- monument- under the shelter. The entire path has nearly either disappeared or has been completely blocked by vegetation, therefore deems effective pruning and landforming.

We reach the Oxia shelter, through a rural road fully covered with enormous oak trees that offer a cool shading.
