Description of the route

The second daily section of 17.4 km connects the town of Amfissa with the villages of Prosilio and Viniani, which are built near the exit of the gorge of Reka.

Leaving the picturesque town of Amfissa and the olive groves, the trail winds uphill, passing through sites with natural herb gardens and cool springs, offering panoramic views of the eastern face of Giona, the ancient olive grove and the Crissaeos Gulf.
You can quench your thirst at the fountain of Agios Nikolaos (St. Vorisis) and Krya Vrysi, while after a few kilometres of walking, drinking water can be found in Prosilio.

The vegetation of the area varies, but it is sparse and the trail is easy to cross.
Reaching the fir-covered slopes of Giona, the trail passes the highest point of the route at an altitude of 1,240 metres with the characteristic Cross and the cave of Agios Athanasios (hidden schoolhouse) just below. The cave is located to the east of the hill, at the end of the long rocky ridge offering natural shelter, as well as excellent views of Reka, the plain of Viniani and the village of Prosilio (Segditsa) just below.
Passing by Prosilio you can visit the Monastery of Panagia, built on a viewpoint, a few hundred meters from the hiking trail.

Descending from Prosilio towards Viniani, we find the chapel of Ai Giorgis, while a little further down we find fields on terraces with stone walls. At the lower part of the field area, the route leading to the centre of Viniani crosses, creating a bypass in case of direct access to the gorge of Reka.
